In the modern world, more and more attention is being paid to sustainable development and caring for the environment. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) help us stay on track and continue moving towards the environmental responsibility.

A vivid example of such activity is the project of the SCR of Moscow "Organizer of Transportation". The company operates based on the SDG11 i.e. the creation of sustainable cities and human settlements. Monitoring the operation of year-round regular river transport is one of its priorities.

The history of river transport in the Russian capital began in 1923, when the first river trams were put into operation. Since then, Muscovites have been able to use this type of transport as an alternative to other ways of making their way around the city. By 1974, 64 routes had already operated in Moscow. However, in 1991, the ships were left with only sightseeing routes, depriving the townspeople of a convenient way to travel. Nevertheless, the life of river transport did not come to an end.

In 2023, the city authorities, together with specialists, launched the world's first river electric vessel. This has become a real breakthrough in the field of passenger transportation, as it can operate regardless of the time of the year. River trams of this type were introduced into the Moscow transport system. Nowadays, about 21 vessels operate in the city on two routes.

The project received the National Ecological Award from the Vernadsky Foundation.
