International Conference ‘Water Resources in the Climate Policy of the Multipolar World’ Was Held at the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS)

The Vernadsky Foundation took part in the international conference ‘Water Resources in the Climate Policy of a Multipolar World’ held on 30 January 2025 at the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).  The event was organized by the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) together with the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and brought together leading scientists from Russia and foreign countries, representatives of government agencies, educational, research and non-profit organizations, as well as leading business companies from Russia and other countries.
The key topic of the conference was the discussion of the role of water resources as an instrument of climate policy under the current global challenges. The participants considered topical issues of water resources management, conservation and rational use in the context of sustainable development and environmental security.
The plenary session of the conference was led by the moderators:
Stepan  Kalmykov, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, representative of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Global Environmental Problems;
Nikolai Nikolaev, Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Deputy Head of the Interfactional Working Group in the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation ‘On Legal Support for the Implementation of Green Economy as a Direction of Sustainable Development’.
The Conference was organized by the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia, with the participation of the Deputy Head of the Interfactional Working Group on Legal Support for Green Economy Implementation as a Path to Sustainable Development.
The conference became a platform for sharing experience and developing strategic solutions aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the field of climate policy and sustainable use of water resources.
